A dose of happiness
Every year in France over 450 babies are born with congenital limb loss – when a limb fails to form completely in the womb. e‑Nable France was created in 2015 and is recognised as a public interest association, offering assistive devices, in the form of mechanical hands, to children who need them.
e‑Nable has built a network of makers to design devices using 3D printing technology. The association connects these makers with people who request devices and ensures that they are provided free of charge.
As the children grow, their devices need to be changed every twelve to eighteen months. The mechanical hands help children to achieve new milestones and improve their daily lives, so they can take part in activities such as cycling, playing with friends, learning to count and drawing.
Today, e‑Nable is part of a global network with the ambition to provide devices for one hundred children in 2025. To achieve this goal, the association needs to attract new makers, train them in safety and comfort standards and provide them with the necessary raw materials to print the mechanical hands.
